Injustice 11.23.09

Genesis 39:19-23 "Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife's story about how Joseph had treated her. So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king's prisoners were held, and there he remained. But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden. Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed."
Even when we do the right thing, it doesn't always mean that everything will go well. Joseph was a good man. Honest, trustworthy, and a hard worker. Even though he was falsely accused, he got thrown into prison. I can't imagine how he must have felt to know that a false accusation got him thrown into prison. It's said that every prisoner says that they are innocent, but for Joseph it was true.
God looked down upon Joseph's innocence and used him in the middle of a bad situation. But, it seems like God should intervene and stop injustices. Why doesn't He? Shouldn't God step in and not just ignore the injustices? Sometimes He does and sometimes He doesn't. In the end, God will show what was true and what was false.
Look to God. He knows your circumstances. Allow Him to use you even when things don't go well or you don't end up where you feel like you should be.
Prayer: Lord, thank you that you see when we are wronged. Help us to not become bitter, but to remain faithful in the difficult situations.
